About
ABOUT THE CLUB
The club promotes the traditional Japanese martial art of Shotokan Karate and was established in 1995 by Sensei Terry Henderson (6th Dan Black Belt). Under the guidance of Sensei Terry, the club has four more instructors, ranging from 1st Dan to 4th Dan.
Sensei Terry has been training in the art of Shotokan Karate for over 35 years, acquiring his black belt in 1994. The majority of these years have been spent as Chief Instructor of Shin−Gi−Tai Karate Gravesend, having set up his first club in 1995 under the derestriction of Sensei Mike Higgins (NSKA). Sensei Terry set up his own association in 2000, allowing him full autonomy to grow the club. The association is affiliated to the BKA, EKF and WKF. Having gained a vast array of experience training with some of the best practitioners of Karate, including the likes of Sensei Ray Fuller, Sensei Pauline Fuller, Sensei Jimmy Patterson, Sensei Mike Higgins, Sensei Peter Stevens, Sensei Nick Adamoh and Sensei Dave Hate, Sensei Terry is well aware of the hurdles training for that ultimate "Black Belt" puts before you.
Because of this, his teaching techniques have, to date, produced a good number of Shodan (black belt) Karate-ka (practitioners of Karate), of which a number still train (and teach) with him to this day. A testament to his teaching abilities.
Sensei Terry was awarded his 6th Dan on the 22nd September 2024 by Brian Seagrove Chairman of BKA, (British Karate Association)
